Wanderdog Terms & Conditions

Training Methods & Philosophy

At Wanderdog our philosophy of training is based on modern science, and as such all of our advice and training techniques are based on kind, fair and reward-based methods.

Wanderdog will never promote harsh handling, physical force, and use of punitive training methods. We also will never use or promote equipment such as choke chains, prong collars, spray collars or e-collars. These items will not be permitted in any class and should never be used in training.

Training takes time, commitment, consistency, and patience. Implementing any training plan is the responsibility of the guardian, as is their dog’s welfare and on-going behaviour.

The guardian recognises that the consistent role they in their dog's learning process is integral to achieving effective and desired results. The guardian acknowledges and agrees that there is no guarantee that their dog will achieve the desired level of training, despite the best efforts of Wanderdog.

The guardian confirms that, if their dog has shown aggressive behaviour in the past either towards other dogs or towards people, this will be disclosed in full PRIOR TO any training consultation or group class.

Training with Wanderdog

The guardian must be at least 18 years old to book with us. If you are under 18 you must have a supervising adult present.

All training handouts and any material given to you is under copyright to Wanderdog and is not to be used or photocopied for your own personal use other than training your dog(s). You cannot pass these on the other members of the public without our permission.

Payments

Wanderdog will always provide an invoice prior to every service. All invoices must be paid in full by bank transfer before the commencement of any service.

If payment is not received within 48 hours of the service, the service cannot commence.

All training packages must be completed within their designated period allocated from the date of booking; otherwise unused sessions will be lost.

Travelling costs will apply if we travel beyond the areas we currently cover. We cover a 30-minute radius from Bermondsey.

Cancellations and Refunds

Private training & behaviour sessions must be cancelled by the guardian in no less than 48 hours beforehand, otherwise the guardian will be responsible for full payment. All sessions are non-refundable once booked, however with 48 hours’ notice, it is possible to change to a new date and time.

Refunds cannot be given after a training package has started. Exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis. All other cancellation and refund requests are at the discretion of Wanderdog.

In the course of a training session, or in the case of advance paid block booked training, Wanderdog reserves the right to terminate the training at any time before or during its term if, in their sole discretion, they determine the guardian’s dog poses a danger to the safety of the trainer or if the guardian has failed to disclose vital safety information before a session (i.e. a dog’s previous bite history). Wanderdog can terminate a session if a guardian refuses to keep a dog on lead if requested as a safety measure.

Wanderdog reserves the right to cancel training sessions up to the point of commencement of each session due to adverse weather conditions, trainer illness or any other reasonable reason. In the case of individual or advance paid sessions, will mutually agree with the guardian alternative dates and times.

Group classes are non-refundable once booked. In exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of Wanderdog, a refund may be made if time is given to find another puppy to fill your space before the start of the course. We are unable to offer any refunds for missed classes, but Wanderdog will endeavour to help you catch up with what you missed during the next class, and you will also receive your class notes via email whether you attended or not.

Wanderdog reserves the right to ask a guardian and dog to leave a group class, if it is deemed that the dog is a danger to the other dogs or guardians within the group.

Some dogs are not suited to a class environment due to fear, anxiety, over arousal etc. Please note, this is different from a young puppy that is new to socialisation and is just a bit nervous.

Dogs that are known to be reactive to other dogs and/or people will not be best suited to a class environment, and we can explore other options in this situation. If a dog is deemed to be too anxious or stressed by a member of Wanderdog during a class, we will do our best to help the situation, but if your puppy really can’t cope with class then you may be asked to remove your dog in their best interests. If you are unsure how your dog will react in a class environment, please do get in touch before booking so we can discuss further as a refund once booked cannot be given.

Children

Wanderdog welcomes children to attend our training classes (private and group) with appropriate adult supervision (for children aged 16 years and under). Wanderdog accepts no responsibility for children at these sessions, and it is always the responsibility of the supervising adult to ensure the child's safely. We ask that children try hard not to disrupt learning for their dog and any other dogs in a group class, and do not wander up to or touch unknown dogs in the class. We reserve the right to request a disruptive child does not attend any future classes. However, we do encourage that all the family get involved with training, so we are very happy for children to practice teaching their own dogs. Please bring suitable (not noisy or distracting) toys or colouring-in books to entertain your children, if they require it.

Health and Vaccination

All puppies must have had their just first set of puppy vaccinations to attend group classes (including kindergarten and foundational) to help prevent potential risk of disease. It is important to get pups in class as soon as possible as pups aged under 14/16 weeks are in a critical window of their early development and socialisation is required for their future behaviour.

Please get in touch with Wanderdog prior to any group or private class, if your dog has been unwell or if they have been in contact with another dog infected with a contagious disease (including kennel cough). Depending on the issue, it may be advisable for the session to be postponed if private or missed if group (see refund policy above).

If your dog has any known allergies or an intolerance to certain foods please make Wanderdog aware before the start of the training session and provide appropriate, alternative treats for training.
